The team is made up of volunteers and professionals who work in a wide range of services. Newcomers are offered training in subjects such as Mental Health First Aid or awareness information.
All our core work is done on a volunteer basis, if you feel you could offer something to the organisation then get in touch, and we can discuss any details.
SMHW – UK North Team
Naminder Singh (CEO/Founder and Wellbeing Coach)
I founded SMHW in August 2018 where a group of volunteers came together and ran a community workshop in the Gurdwara. I have been through many periods of anxiety and depression throughout my life and have learnt many ways to overcome them and lead a happier life. I have undertaken a number of different training courses and been inspired by many healing techniques and Naam Simran. I like to work through holistic approaches and meditation, I want to share my experience and knowledge to help improve peoples lives.
Lokesh Soni (Health Coach)
I work to help those diagnosed with Health conditions, from Diabetes to Cancer, manage and regain their health with a ‘Nutrition First’ approach. Bringing my own experience of receiving a diagnosis, recovering my health with diet in addition to over a decade’s worth of study, interviewing doctors on the cutting edge of Lifestyle Medicine and working with people with a myriad of different conditions. I’m confident that the vast majority of people can benefit greatly through a few simple changes in Diet and Lifestyle.
Paramjit Kaur (Proof reader and content writer)
I am a full-time mum of twins, but previously worked in the NHS for 10 years. I have a very keen interest in Mental Health and Wellbeing as I think it is not spoken about openly and enough in the community and is perceived as a taboo subject. I have been through a really tough past myself where I battled with my mental health and felt isolated with no one to reach out to. This makes me very passionate to help others who are struggling and make sure they don’t feel alone.
Dylan Bhandal (Facilitator, Panjabi Men’s)
In my day job, I work in the NHS and enjoy playing sports and going to the gym. I became a facilitator for the Panjabi Men’s Social because I wanted to support and connect with my community, to educate and better improve their wellbeing. There is a strength in our community that is magic. I would love to see that translated into supporting our mental wellbeing.
Jazz (Facilitator, Panjabi Men’s)
In my day job I am an Accountant, I enjoy playing football, socialising and going to the gym. I became a facilitator for the Panjabi Men’s Social because I wanted to help others. Whilst recognising the need for this within the community.
Kermz (Facilitator, Panjabi Men’s)
In my day job, I work in Education and Social Care and enjoy camping and the outdoors. I became a facilitator for the Panjabi Men’s Social because I wanted to make a difference and raise awareness of Men’s Mental Health. For anyone whom may be struggling or facing hardship, know that you’re not alone and there is help out there. You just need to reach out.
